With so much going on this year, I did not read as many books as previous years, mostly because I’ve had to spread my time across other things. The books I have read and reviewed are on ReadRoundOz Blog, but you can see them all at a glance on Goodreads.
One reason for not reading so many books is all the travelling we did in Myrtle the Turtle. As well as touring in our home on wheels, we did some Queensland housesits in places such as: Gladstone, Mackay, Yeppoon, Townsville and Atherton Tablelands. Then we headed down to NSW, staying for three months in Kyogle (The Northern Rivers region).
Our housesits have seen me looking after creatures great and small, including: cows, chooks, dogs, cats, horses and… a very impressive and much-loved orchid collection. (I’ve never been so terrified of something in my charge carking it while the owners of the house are away!!!)
There were bucket list items I’ve ticked off in 2019, with two highlights being snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef and zip lining through the Daintree Rain Forest. I’ve also towed our 5th Wheel Caravan over 6,000 klms between towns and taken several essential side trips to take in attractions and natural wonders, as well as delivering a certain author to prearranged library talks!
2019 has been a year of good and bad experiences because we’ve seen, firsthand, Mother Nature do her thing: drought, fire, rain, hail, and destructive winds.
But the biggest thing to limit my reading this year was taking on a new role: Admin Manager for Wild Myrtle Press, which required researching and establishing monitoring and accounting systems. (I do love a spreadsheet!)
Yes, together, Jenn and I published her 6th Australian fiction novel – House of Wishes.
You can see the end result at www.jennjmcleod.com. If you order a book, I will be the one processing your order, getting Jenn to sign it, and popping it in the post. You can also see the five star reviews on Goodreads.
I can’t be more proud. It’s an awesome story (a return to Calingarry Crossing). Hmm, maybe I need to review that one here. Oops!!!!! In the meantime, enjoy these unbiased reviews!
Wishing all my followers a fabulous 2020. See you then.
